The Media Firestorm Over Trump But Not Sanders

Last week, while taking questions at a Trump campaign event, a man stood up and told Trump that we have a "Muslim problem" in this country; and, that "Obama is Muslim"; and, that "Obama isn't even a U.S. citizen".  Because Trump didn't admonish the questioner for what he falsely said, the media literally spent all day Friday and throughout the weekend in a  frenzy painting Trump as a bigot because he, because of his inaction, broadly labelled all Muslims a "problem".

However, the same media didn't have a similar "broad-brush" reaction with Bernie Sanders when he, at a similar event at Liberty University, stated that this country was "founded on racist principals" and it wasn't until "Obama was elected" that we took a big step forward in shedding those principals.  So, with two sweeping statements Bernie erased why we fought a bloody Civil War and passed several Civil Rights acts that laid the foundation for Obama to ultimately be elected President. According to Bernie Sanders, the whole country is racist.

So, where is the outrage over what Sanders said?  None.  That is because the left-leaning media essentially agrees with him and, like Obama, protects Muslims from any remarks that imply terrorism.

Why Ted Cruz Might Not Be Eligible To Be President

After Ted Cruz announced his run for the presidency, many in the media made note of the fact that he talked about his non-citizen father who was living in Texas while he and his U.S. born mother were living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  Well, it took just a couple of seconds for the media to also disclose that Cruz was actually born in Canada.  Thus, many questioned his eligibility to be president because it is assumed that, as stated in the Constitution, he isn't a natural born citizen.

However, those defending Cruz's eligibility misquoted federal law by stating that you are a citizen at birth -- no matter where you are born -- if at least one of your parents is a U.S. citizen. Cruz supported that belief by previously providing the media with his mother's U.S. birth certificate.

But, there's still a problem.

U.S. law states that if you are born outside of the U.S. to one or both parents who are U.S. citizens, the citizen parent or parents must go to a U.S. consulate or embassy in the country where the child was born and apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America (CRBA).  This form insures that the birth certificate isn't a fake in an attempt of circumvent our immigration laws. And, this application must be done before the child is 18 years of age.  Once the consulate/embassy verifies that birth right to citizenship, an FS-240 form will be issued as proof of citizenship.

That's the form that Cruz should have produced.  Not his mother's birth certificate. Obviously, he doesn't have that form or he would have provided it. That document is something that he should have  with him for life since it supersedes and replaces his actual birth certificate.  Yet,  Cruz, instead, produced his Canadian birth certificate in 2013:

Simply, without having obtained a FS-240 before he was 18 years of age, Cruz is not a citizen by birth; and, thus, not eligible to be President of the United States.  After age 18, he can become a citizen through the naturalization process; but, still, can't be President.  Thus, proof of a FS-240 must be provided before he can even participate in the primaries.

I was unable to find out if there was a federal database to determine if a FS-240 existed for Cruz.  The only database available was from Ancestry.com and its records only span from the years 1910 to 1949.  Cruz was born in 1970.  But, what the Ancestry database proves is that the consular birth requirements existed long before he was born; just in case someone thinks the law was somehow recent and not applicable in this case.

Is Obama A U.S. Citizen?

With Obama's numbers falling fast in the polls, a hot-button issue that seems to be bubbling up to the surface is whether or not Barack Obama is actually a natural-born citizen and, therefore, even qualified to be President. Recently, Lou Dobbs, on the cable news channel, CNN, has been taking some heat for his broaching of that very subject (Click to See Full Story).

To try and put this topic to rest, I have simply assembled the following information and opinion about Barack's birth and his eligibility to be our President.

The Constitution of the United States clearly states that, in order for a person to be President, they must be a "natural-born" citizen of the United States and not a naturalized citizen; as in the case of someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

We also know that Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961 and Hawaii had only became a State in the prior year. He was born to an 18-year old mother who was a valid U.S. citizen. His father was not a U.S. citizen. Although Barack left the United States as a toddler, he returned at age 10 to live with his grandparents and remained in the United States from then on.

Right now, there are a lot of bogus theories on the Internet about whether or not Obama was actually born in the United States because of his failure to produce an authentic, not recreated, long-form birth certificate. However, I don't think any of them would really "stick" under legal scrutiny because there are two known Hawaiian newspaper notices from the year 1961 that clearly make note of his birth and clearly reference both of his parent's names. This simple fact substantiates his birth; with or without any birth certificate. It also puts to rest the belief that, somehow, Barack was actually born in Kenya.

The second reason that people claim that Barack is not a citizen goes to these words from U.S. law at that time that states: "If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16." But, these words only apply to children born outside of the United States or in U.S. territories. At the time that Barack was born, Hawaii was a true State with the United States of America and not a territory. So this language would not apply.

The truth about this really comes down to the Civil Rights Act of 1866 which stipulates that any child born in the United States is a natural born U.S. citizen unless that child, somehow, is under the control of a foreign government; such as a child born to a foreign diplomat who is working in the United States. The purpose of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 was to insure that any child born of non-U.S. citizens (primarily those born to slaves who were not citizens) would automatically become citizens. That's why, today, children of illegal aliens are all natural-born U.S. citizens; as illogical as that may seem.

I think, for the reasons above, Obama is a legitimate and natural-born U.S. citizen and there is no reason for him not to be our President. Whether or not he is still our President after 2012, is all up to the voters and it should not be left up to some frivolous court actions that are attempting to nullify his valid claim of being a natural-born citizen and our President.

Simply speaking, Barack Obama was born in the U.S.A!

End of story!
