ISIS in Iraq: Close to Defeat?

Is one of the "I's" (Iraq) in ISIS' name on its way out?  Two reports from two U.K. online newspapers seems to say yes. The U.K. DailyMail recently reported that the "leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has admitted defeat in Iraq and ordered militants to either flee or kill themselves in suicide attacks, it has been claimed." In that same article it was reported "UK Defence Minister Michael Fallon said he expected to see ISIS expelled from Iraq's major towns by the end of 2017."

Then, there was this recent quote from the Guardian:
"Firas Abi Ali, a senior analyst of terrorism in the Middle East, said the jihadist group - also known as Islamic State - was being weakened by American air power and was unlikely to survive as a military force beyond the next 12 months."
In my opinion, this is big news that I have not seen reported by the media in the U.S..  Yet, the U.K. news outlets seem to have a handle on the story.  Is the news being ignored so as to not give Trump any credit for what to be happening in his first year in office?

Laughable: Obama Esclates War With A Defeated Al Qaeda and ISIS is Contained

It was only a year ago, that Obama claimed that ISIS was contained.  In addition, over the years, he has stated that Al Qaeda was, essentially defeated.  Listen to this collection of comments from him and Biden over the years.

Unfortunately, he is wrong on both fronts.

First, there this "heat map" from his own National Counter Terrorism Center that shows that the supposedly "contained" ISIS is operating in 3 times as many countries than it was just two years ago:

Then, there's this late November story from the New York Times: "Obama Expands War With Al Qaeda to Include Shabab in Somalia." (see link below)

The simple fact, is that ISIS is not contained and Al Qaeda is not defeated.  Apparently, any beliefs to the contrary only exist in Obama's mind.

What Obama Should Have Done After Orlando

The Orlando massacre was an atrocity akin to an act of war.  Instead of referencing how easy it is to get guns and never once mentioning ISIS (or ISIL?) by name, President Obama should have committed us to at least a doubling of air attacks against ISIS in retaliation.  And, further, pledged even more "in kind" escalations whenever there is a terror attack against this country.

Perhaps then, U.S.-based ISIS supporters will learn that their actions will actually result in a destruction of their own cause.

Hey Ted Cruz, The Lawyer! Carpet Bombing is a War Crime.

Ted Cruz, the former Texas Solicitor General, has repeatedly said that he would "carpet bomb" ISIS into oblivion.

The major problem with that insanity is that carpet bombing is imprecise and would kill thousands of civilians because the battles that ISIS is fighting in both Syria and Iraq are over the control of various cities and urban areas within those two countries.

This is why, in 1977, the United States, and others agreeing to the modification of the Geneva Conventions, defined carpet bombing as a war crime.

Another Hillary Clinton "Video" Lie

First it was her claim that an anti-Mohammed video was responsible for the death of our Ambassador and others in a terrorist attack on Benghazi.  A lie that was debunked by her own email to Chelsea saying otherwise, and a separate email that she had sent to the Egyptian Prime Minister the following day, in which she explained that it was a terrorist attack and had nothing to do with the video.

Now, the latest "video" lie comes from the last Democratic debate where she said this:
"He [Trump] is becoming ISIS's best recruiter. They are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists."
Just like Benghazi, there is zero truth in this.  There are no such videos nor any facts supporting the claim, and Hillary's team can't produce a video either.  PolitiFact gives this one a big, wash-your-mouth-out-with-soap "False".

For HillaryClinton, lying comes as easily as breathing.

Obama's Feckless Oval Office Address on the San Bernadino Terror Attack

When a President of the United States takes to the Oval Office to address the nation following a major event, Americans expect that something new and significant will be conveyed.  They expect a plan of action and reassurance. That was the case for President Kennedy's address during the Cuban Missile Crisis, or when George H. W. Bush announced the start of the first Gulf War, or when Reagan addressed America following the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster, and surely when George W. Bush addressed the nation following 9/11.

The setting is intentionally formal. The President is seated at his work desk; with flags flanking him on both sides. Obama's Sunday night address was indeed in the oval office. However, instead of at the desk he stood in front of a podium, awkwardly placed in front of the desk; giving the appearance of just another press conference, or one of his speeches on the road. What's worse,  he conveyed nothing new about the terrorist attack in San Bernadino.  Personally, I think he chose the podium over the desk because he really didn't have anything new or important to say, No real plan of action.  No reassurances. He simply, once again, blamed inaction on gun control; even though none of the proposed gun control measures would have prevented San Bernadino. Essentially, it was a stay the course speech on what he, in his own mind, thinks is working to defeat ISIS and terrorism.

To me and others, his speech merely reinforced the belief that this President is simply marking time until he can get out of office and hand the problem over to his successor.  In the meantime, there may be more San Bernadino's in our future due to his inaction.

Why Radical Islam Exists and May Never Be Defeated

This is the seed of radical Islam:

Thousands of Madrassas (schools) like this exist around the world; starting in the 1970's.  In them, children are generally taught to take the Qur'an literally in a brand of austere Islam called Wahhabism.  For all too many, this is the only education they will ever receive.

While there are numerous verses in the Qur'an that teach peace and tranquility, there are many that don't.  Those that don't are based on the belief that there can only be one god in the world and his name is Allah; and that there can only be one religion in the world and that is Islam.

So, these children are taught that "unbelievers" (infidels) -- which, by the way, include modern day secularized Islamics -- must either be converted to fundamental Islam or be killed or enslaved.  Thus, they are taken back to the earliest days of Islam under the Prophet Muhammad.  A time when the Prophet, himself, spent the last 10 years of his life as a military commander in his effort to spread Islam through wars against Christians, Jews, and Pagans.

What should concern us all is the depth to which these Madrassas have radicalized Islam. In France, for example -- there are "No Go Zones" where the French government does not intervene and where Muslims are left to govern and educate themselves, and where support for ISIS is the highest of all other European countries.  27% of 18 to 24 year-olds, and 22% of the 25 to 34 age group support ISIS.

Simply, it is impossible to stop the radicalization unless the Madrassas are shutdown.

The ISIS Name Game

Years ago, pop-singer Prince changed his name to a symbol which had no translation.  So, the media started to refer to him as the "Artist formerly known as Prince".  Well, when it comes to referring to the terrorist group formerly known as ISIS, confusion also reigns.  This is because the acronym doesn't translate well into English.

Most people, including the media, use the acronym ISIS thinking that it means the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria".  But the last "S" really stands for al-Sham (a borderless area called "Greater Syria" which includes Syria).  ISIS itself, prefers to call themselves the Islamic State or "IS" as declared by their current religious leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.  In doing so, any concept of border limitations is removed.

Our President, and most of his minions, prefer the acronym "ISIL" or the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant". But "Levant" is a variant of the Arabic "al-Sham" and much more restrictive of the geographical area that al-Sham implies.  Also, by taking the last "S" meaning Syria out of "ISIS", some believe the intention is to avoid focusing on the mess he created in Syria by not taking the lead to take down Assad.

John Kerry, on the other hand, is much more free swinging.  Sometimes he uses the term "ISIS".  Other times, when being a good Obama soldier, he sticks to "ISIL".  But, increasingly he refers to "ISIS" as "Daesh" which is actually a closer English interpretation of the original name "al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham".  The trouble with "Daesh" is that it can also mean things that can be insulting.  Thus, al-Baghdadi has banned the use of the term throughout his so-called Islamic State.  To al-Baghdadi, its use it and lose your tongue.  So, when Kerry and French President Hollande use Daesh, they are intentionally (I hope) insulting ISIS.

Lastly, the Iraqi government has started to refer to ISIS as "dookh" which stands for "Dawlat Al Islamiya Al Khalifa".  However, this, too, is considered an insult because it is closely related to the Arabic word meaning "confused".  As if things weren't already confusing.

Anyway, we're at war with some acronym that rapes, kills, beheads, throws gays off buildings, destroys irreplaceable antiquities, takes down a Russian aircraft, attacks Paris, and threatens to attack Washington D.C..  I think that if the world wants to collectively defeat these bastards, it should at least come together on a single name for the enemy.

Obama's Delusional War Against ISIS

In a press conference at the G20 summit, President Obama touted the fact that we have dropped 8,000 bombs against ISIS.  According to Mother Jones those 8,000 bombs are a result of 17 sorties a day; releasing 60 bombs each.  Just hours before the Paris terrorist attack, Obama said his actions in Iraq and Syria have "contained" ISIS.

But, understand that, compared to other wars, 17 sorties a day is simply a pinprick.  In the 13 years that we were directly engaged in the Vietnam war and before that war was "Vietnamized" in 1973 and we ceased all direct action, we conducted 1.9 million sorties.  That's an average of 400 air attacks per day.  Yet, we still weren't able to win.   On average, the daily count of bombs dropped was 1400.

Believing that dropping 60 bombs a day is containing ISIS is delusional. By the way, containing is not defeating.  Obama continues to believe that ISIS is on the "run" and Al Qaeda is on the path to defeat.  Really?

The Latest Re-Write Of History: Bush and Hawkish GOP Created ISIS

In the latest attempt to "cleanse" Obama's legacy of any blame, the political left is perpetuating a lie that George W. Bush created ISIS.  The genesis of this current untruth is an accusatory commentary that was aired by the left-wing MSNBC host Chris Matthews on September 10, 2014. In that commentary, he claimed that the success of ISIS on the battlefield was a direct result of the Bush administration's disbanding of Iraqi army leaders who eventually joined ISIS. The problem with this theory is that, never once, has either Chris Matthews or MSNBC been able to substantiate any of their so-called facts. See fact check below which gives him a big fat "mostly false" for the claim.

Now, here's the truth.

ISIS was founded under the name Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad in 1999 by a Jordanian by the name of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi with the intent of establishing a Sunni Caliphate in the ancient area known as the Levant.  This was 2 years before Bush came to office and 5 years before we went to war in Iraq.  The group which was headquartered in Fallujah, Iraq had set up operations and was growing in size hoping to eventually take over Jordan.  Once done, Jordan would become the base of operations from which the rest of the Levant could be seized and forced to join the Caliphate.  However, once Fallujah fell to U.S. forces, they were forced to flee to Syria.  They reconstituted themselves with the new name ISIL in the vacuum of the civil war that was then raging.  After growing in size and taking more and more territory in Syria, they used the removal of U.S. forces in Iraq as an opportunity to move back across the border and overtake Fallujah as part of the Islamic State.  Obama ignored them and called them a JayVee team.    Now, just how does Bush fit into that whole scenario?

Still, the lie lives on.  Recently, a 19 year old girl verbally attacked Jeb Bush at a campaign event challenging him on the fact that his brother created ISIS.  That video then went viral; spreading to millions.  Something that the source, Chris Matthews couldn't do, because of his small audience.

The saddest fact about all of this is that this fabricated story is also being perpetuated by an idiot Senator by the name of Rand Paul who is attempting to win the GOP nomination. While not mentioning Bush's name directly, he claimed that ISIS was a product of a "hawkish GOP".  A statement that he is now trying to walk back.  It's bad enough that the political left is perpetuating the lie.  Now, we have a republican Presidential candidate fueling it with his own rewrite of history.  That is irresponsible and another reason why Rand Paul should never be a candidate for the Presidency.

On ISIS, is History Repeating Itself?

Europe and Russia should thank God for Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, because without it, a war weary America, might never have joined the fight against Hitler in Europe.  Essentially, before Pearl Harbor, America was willing to sit it out on the belief that it was their war to win.  Not ours.  As a consequence, Hitler's domination of all of Europe, including Russia, may have come to pass. But, because Hitler had a verbal agreement with Japan to defend them in the event that the United States attacked, he was forced to declare war on the U.S. just 4 days after the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Certainly, Hitler never thought that an attack on Japan would ever occur, or that it would be the result of them attacking the U.S.

Today, the United States is in a similar position as in the years prior to Pearl Harbor.  We, like then, are war weary following the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  When Presidential Press Secretary Josh Earnest was asked about the possibility of our increasing involvement in fighting against ISIS, his response was:
“The United States is not going to be responsible for securing the security situation inside of Iraq

“The United States is not going to be responsible for securing the security situation inside of Iraq..."
So, essentially, like the war in Europe prior to World War II, ISIS in Iraq is their problem and not ours.  Similarly, by extension, ISIS in Syria is a Syrian problem; which explains why we have done nothing in that country to support the free-Syrian rebels.  I suppose if ISIS takes both Iraq and Syria, and then sets its sights on Jordan or Saudi Arabia, we will continue to ignore it all until, and unless, we have another Pearl Harbor or an ISIS version of 9/11.  Do we ever learn?

Handcuffing Our Police Is Killing More Americans Than Terrorism

According to the latest State Department accounting, out of 17,891 terrorist murders around the world in 2013, 19 were Americans.

In Baltimore, May was the first full month since the Freddie Gray riots. 38 homicides were committed; an increase of 20 from the previous four months that averaged a total of 18 murders a month.  More than all the Americans killed by terrorists in all of 2013.

And, Baltimore is not alone.  This year, after seeing two decades of decline in gun violence, many cities like New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and St. Louis, are experiencing double-digit increases in murders in just the first 5 months of the year.   In Milwaukee, homicides are up 180% over last year.

This is what happens when you have a President and his current and past Attorney's General, Mayors like De Blasio in New York City, and activists like Al Sharpton all condemning the police over the deaths of 3 unarmed black men: Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and Freddie Gray.  The police are now in a position where they believe that no one has their backs.  Especially, their President and the Department of Justice. As a result, arrests and traffic stops are down. There is fear that a single stop could result in their own deaths, because they are now more likely to hesitate to protect themselves. A split-second hesitation that could be deadly. Any altercation with a suspect could end in their own arrests or even a charge of murder. Without the preventive policing of stopping suspicious  people, countless illegal guns are not being confiscated that ultimately end up killing someone.

Hundreds more black lives are being lost every month, and innocent black women and children are being killed in the process.  If black lives really do matter, the new policies towards (really, against) policing are not working.

The media is always talking about President Obama's legacies such as Cuba and the possibility of a nuke deal with Iran.  Well, here's one that he now owns.  Killing more people through restrictive policing than terrorists like ISIS could ever hope to accomplish since 9/11. Americans now have more to fear from this President's handcuffing of police than any terrorist group.  The facts prove it.

One last thing.  Obama is readying a number of gun control laws aimed at keeping them out of the hands of dangerous people.  Really? His policing restrictions have actually managed to allow dangerous people to keep guns and increasingly use them.  Violent offenders will always find ways to buy weapons outside the law.  Just as drug addicts can always find drugs,  Please, for the sake of all too many lives, let the cops do their jobs.

Update: The final tally of homicides in Baltimore for May is 43; meaning a 25 murder increase from the first four months of the year: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2015/05/31/baltimore-homicides-worst-in-40-years/28284839/

Why the Saudis Fear ISIS and Iran

To most people, Saudi Arabia represents a wealthy country based on decades of being the world's leader in the extraction of oil.  But, within the religion of Islam, they have something of much greater value than oil. Saudi Arabia is home to the most holy cities of Mecca and Medina.   Mecca is where the Prophet Mohammed was born and began writing the Qur'an. It is the responsibility of every Muslim to make a pilgrimage to this holiest of places within their lifetime.  Medina is where the Prophet is buried and was, when he was alive, the capital of the Muslim empire.

So, if you are ISIS and want to create a true Islamic State or Caliphate, it must include Mecca and Medina.  Also, Iran believes in the coming of the 12th and final Imam and, as such, Shia and Sunni Muslims must be unified under Shia rule.  This is why Iran is actively supporting a Shia takeover in Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and Libya.   And, for sure, and at some point, Iran will set their sights on Sunni Saudi Arabia and Jordan; a goal that is only solidified if Iran has nuclear weapons because having the bomb insulates them from attacks by stronger Sunni countries such as Saudi Arabia.  Also, understand that Iran having control of Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and Libya is, in a way, attempting to surround both Sunni countries of Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

The Saudis clearly understand this threat.  Currently, they are building an extremely fortified  600-mile wall along the Iraq border to protect themselves from an ISIS invasion.  A similar wall is being built  along the Yemeni border to shield themselves from a possible Houthis Shia invasion from Yemen.   It is also the reason that Saudi Arabia has created a coalition of 10 countries to restore Sunni control of Yemen and beat back the Shia Houthis.

At issue, now, is whether or not that same coalition will eventually turn on Iran in an attempt to keep them from ever getting the bomb.  In fact, Obama's nuke deal may have just solidified that very possibility.  But, even if the Saudis don't lead a war against Iran, there is a very real possibility that the  President's deal will create a rush of Sunni countries, lead by Saudi Arabia, to have their own nuclear weapons as a matter of self defense.

Simply, there has never been a worse time for peace in the Middle East because the United States has created a vacuum for ISIS and Iran to walk all over Sunni countries in the region.  It is possible that in less than two years, an all out Middle East war could ensue, or as rumored, the Saudis may allow Israel access to their airspace to launch a defensive attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.   A fact that previously would have never been possible had Iran not been given a pathway to the bomb under the current nuke deal.

When Aren't Beheadings 'Acts of Pure Evil'

Back in November, after the beheading of aid worker Peter Kassig by ISIS, President Obama described it as an "act of pure evil".  Further, he also made a point that the ISIS beheadings were not representative of the "Muslim Faith".

Well, perhaps, he should also condemn Saudi Arabia then. That country is on track to set a record for public beheadings in 2015 with 45 already performed. Are they acting as non-muslims?  Or, maybe he should say the same about Iran, Qatar, and Yemen since these countries, too, use beheading as capital punishment.

Any attempt by President Obama to prove that ISIS isn't Muslim because they behead people ignores the fact that, until recently, the practice was even more widespread in the Islamic world.  He may also want to consider the other "evil" punishments common to Islam such as stoning women to death for infidelity or performing honor killings for "shaming" their families.

I guess, I'm a little tired of our President trying to paint Islam as a peaceful religion.  If it's so peaceful, why is there so much strife and war in the Middle East?

Radical Islam: The President of Egypt Gets It

It was the first time, I actually heard an international leader and a Muslim, express the scope and intent of radical Islam.  That leader -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi -- put it concisely into the following words of a speech he gave before a gathering of imams back in November:
"Is it possible that 1.6 billion [Muslims] should want to kill the rest of the world's inhabitants – that is 7 billion—so that they themselves may live? Impossible!  I say and repeat again that we are in need of a religious revolution. You, imams, are responsible before Allah. The entire world, I say it again, the entire world is waiting for your next move… because this umma [international Muslim community] is being torn, it is being destroyed, it is being lost – and it is being lost by our own hands."
Clearly, he understands that radical Islam wants to destroy the non-Islam world.  But, he also knows that radical Islam is willing to kill Muslims that won't follow their radical form of religion as well.  He explains that the problem of radicalization is welling up from within the religion itself, through the radical teachings of all too many imams.  As a result, Islam, as it is known today, "is being lost by our own hands."

That is the key element of the speech.  Simply because it exposes the fact that radical Islam cannot be stopped by a top-down attempt to conduct battles that eliminate already-radicalized soldiers.   Soldiers who believe that killing and dying in the name of Allah is their pathway to heaven.

Instead, we must focus on destroying radical Islam from the bottom-up by stopping the teaching process by which children are being radicalized.   Until then, for every one we kill on the battlefield -- no matter what they call themselves (ISIS, Taliban, Al Qaeda, or whatever) --  there will always be more who, radicalized as children, are willing to kill in their place.  One sure way to end this is to convince Saudis and others who fund these radical schools that their actions are ultimately hurting Islam itself.

The Politics of Calling Right-Wing Extremists a Bigger Threat Than ISIS

It is incredible to me to see what great lengths the Obama Administration will go to politicize almost anything and everything.  While, at the same time, try to downplay the threat of terrorism.  As if 9/11 never happened. Nor the Boston Marathon bombing or the slaughter at Fort Hood.

In the latest iteration, CNN is reporting that the President's Department of Homeland Security is circulating a report that suggests that the greatest threat to our American homeland is not ISIS but, instead, right-wing extremist groups such as the skinheads and those angry white and anti-American militia cells.  Of course, this implies that there are no political left-wing groups we should fear. The basis of their assessment is that there are approximately 100,000 core right-wing extremists in this country, and that, in the last 5 calendar years, there have been a total of 24 violent acts committed by these groups; mostly against law enforcement.  That's right, 24!  Of course this is less than 5 incidents per year and ignores the fact that, on average, 150 cops are killed each year by violent offenders like gang members.  It also ignores the fact that, in 2008, the FBI called left-wing Eco-terrorism the biggest threat facing the country.

In my opinion, gangs pose the biggest threat to the lives of too many Americans.  They are a subculture who doesn't believe in our societal values or laws.  To more fully understand this, here are some excerpted bullet points from the FBI's own threat assessment:
  • There are approximately 1.4 million active street, prison, and OMG [Outlaw Motorcycle Gang] gang members comprising more than 33,000 gangs in the United States.
  • Gangs are responsible for an average of 48 percent of the violent crime in most jurisdictions and up to 90 percent in several others, according to NGIC analysis.
  • Gang infiltration of the military continues to pose a significant criminal threat, as members of at least 53 gangs have been identified on both domestic and international military installations. Gang members who learn advanced weaponry and combat techniques in the military and are at risk of employing these skills on the street when they return to their communities.
  • Gang members are acquiring high-powered, military-style weapons and equipment which poses a significant threat because of the potential to engage in lethal encounters with law enforcement officers and civilians.
Everyday, hundreds of people in this country are killed or seriously injured by gang members. Gangs are the key element in drug, weapon, and human trafficking.  Simply, violence is their mainstay and our Department of Homeland Security ignores this and considers 24 violent acts by right-wing groups the biggest threat?

Lastly, there's another reason to worry about gangs.  Most of their members have served and/or will serve time in prison in the future.  Increasingly our prisons have become a hotbed for converting inmates to radical Islam.  There should be a concern that at some point, some gangs, may revert to terrorist tactics to undermine the police and government agencies like the FBI or use terrorism against the civilian population.

What Obama Left Out When Referencing the Crusades

By now, I am sure you're aware that President Obama made this comment at the National Prayer Breakfast in, I suppose, some feeble attempt to imply that Medieval Christians were no different than today's ISIS:
"And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades..., people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ."
What that statement ignores is the amount of violence and killing that took place against Christians at that time and which necessitated the Crusades.

To a fault, Christianity grew out of Christ's teachings on peace and pacifism.

They believed in the Ten Commandments and, in particular, the one that said: "Thou Shalt Not Kill".  Otherwise, to do so, would be a mortal sin whereby your soul would be dead to God and you would be unable to reach heaven.  They also lived by the tenants of the eight Beatitudes as spoken by Christ in his famous Sermon on the Mount.  Essentially, in those Beatitudes, Christ taught pacifism by teaching that if you were meek, merciful, pure in heart, a peacemaker, or are persecuted for righteous sake, you will be rewarded both on earth and welcomed into heaven.  Thus, with these words the concept of martyrdom was created whereby dying for your religion, without resistance, would deliver your soul to heaven.  It was these beliefs in the very violent times during the Roman Empire that gave many people hope; and, as a result, the religion flourished.

But, then came the 7th Century and the founding of Islam.  Following that, there were Muslim Conquests where Christians (and pagans and Jews) were forced to convert to Islam or be killed, enslaved, or subjugated by taxation.  Unlike Christianity, the Koran taught that any non-believers of Islam (infidels) should be slain.  For example, verse 8:65 of the Koran says this about the infidels: "O Prophet! Exhort the believers to fight. If there are 20 steadfast men among you, they shall vanquish 200; and if there are a hundred, they shall rout a thousand unbelievers, for they are devoid of understanding."  The Prophet Mohammed, himself, was a Military commander in the last 10 years of his life to help increase conversions and obedience to Allah through the Islamic faith.

By 1095, Pope Urban II knew that if he didn't act, the entirety of Christianity could be eradicated by advancing Muslim hoards that were killing and subjugating Christians throughout the former Byzantine and Roman Empires.  For that reason he wrote this text within a broader encyclical which told his Bishops that it was all right to kill in the name of Christ:
I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ's heralds to publish this everywhere and to perse all people of whatever rank, foot-soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile race from the lands of our friends. I say this to those who are present, it is meant also for those who are absent. Moreover, Christ commands it.
So, the Crusades were born out of necessity against a religion that was killing Jews and Christians in the name of Allah.  A fact that the President doesn't seem to understand.

By the way.   It is interesting that the Pope used the word "destroy" in his letter to the Bishops.  Obama used the very same word in defining his actions against ISIS.  So, in a way Obama is leading his very own crusades against Muslim radicals in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, etc.

Obama Equates The Islamic State to Catholicism

At the annual National Prayer Breakfast,  President Obama said this about the Islamic State: "brutal, vicious death cult". As usual, he never once called them Islamic extremists or terrorists.  Now, they are simply a type of "cult".  Then, he went on to talk about the fact that there are other terrible things going on in the world in the name of religion.  But, what has a lot of people upset are the words that followed those remarks:
"And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ."
By saying that, he basically gave Christianity (specifically Catholicism) the moral equivalency of the Islamic State.  Make no mistake about it, this was a direct and  quite intentional slam against the Catholic Church.  An institution that most liberals, like Obama, hate because of its stand on gays, abortion, and same sex marriage.

This is not the first attack on, or proof that, Obama is at war with Catholics.  His mandate for contraception availability under ObamaCare was a direct hit against the Church's stand on contraception and and the morning-after pill.  He could have used his pen to give Catholic institutions an exemption to the mandate but, instead, he prefers to wage war with the Church in our courts over this mandate.

But, don't just think its Catholics that he doesn't like.  Remember his "clinging to their guns and bibles' comment.  In essence, President Obama pretty much doesn't like Christianity at all.  This, even though he claims to be one.

A Disturbing Fact: ISIS Is Not Being Defeated

There is strength in numbers. If that is true, then ISIS is strengthening greatly. Unfortunately, their numbers are growing by leaps and bounds.

Earlier in the summer, they were thought to have 10,000 fighters.  Then, the CIA said that, by August, they had grown to a force of between 20,000 and 31,500.  Now, it is estimated they have a militia strength of between 30,000 and 50,000 and, with some experts, outside of our government, saying the number is as high as 100,000.

Obviously, the coalition airstrikes and the fighting on the ground by the Kurds, the Iraqis, and the free-Syria rebels isn't working.  Otherwise, ISIS wouldn't be growing so rapidly.  If this growth rate doesn't abate, they will literally be able to overrun any of the current ground forces that are fighting them in Syria and Iraq.

Then what?

Obama On National Security: Hear No Evil and the Buck Stops Elsewhere

Ever since President Obama gave his '60 Minutes' interview and, basically, threw his national security team under the bus by claiming that "they" (not him) underestimated the ISIS threat, we have been seeing stories that expose a rather careless attitude by him on matters of national security.

However, even before the interview, there was that infamous JayVee team reference that he made about ISIS.  This was  8 months ago in January and it came just after ISIS flew their Black Flag over Fallujah.  This, again, after they had made massive gains in Syria and were on their way to Ramadi and Mosul.  Obviously, the taking of Fallujah should have been anyone's wake-up call since it had been one of the longest and bloodiest battles that our Marines fought in all of the Iraq war.  But ISIS was able to take that town in short order.  Not hardly a JayVee effort in contrast to our well trained Marines.

Then, since the '60 Minutes' comment, the DailyMail exposed the fact that Obama knew of the rising threat of ISIS prior to the 2012 elections.  Yet, because that threat didn't square with his Al Qaeda-on-the-run stump speeches, there was no effort to alert Americans to the threat or to take any action.

Now, we find out from a report by the Government Accounting Institute, that the President only attends 42% of his Presidential Daily Briefings where he would have been informed of any national security issues.  I guess fundraising, speeches, and golf outings were more important than hearing about ISIS and other threats that we face.  Maybe that's why Obama is always being blindsided by scandals and international incidents and has to respond with a weak comment like: The first I heard of it is when you all head of it.

Our dedicated national security personnel are really upset with the President not owning up to having known about the ISIS threat.  In essence, his comment can easily be interpreted as him calling them incompetent.  And, if they didn't get it right on ISIS, shouldn't heads roll?  Doesn't this also mean that the Intel we're getting on other bad guy countries such as Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, etc. might also be underestimated?  And, if that be true, isn't America at serious risk?

My guess is that Obama was told but, chose not to hear.  This is a huge problem with this President.  As many have said, he sees the world the way he thinks it should be and not how it really is.  That's a clear recipe for disaster.
