My Classroom: Climate Change 101

According to Al Gore, we are close to the point of "no return". We are at a point where mankind will not be able to recover for the harmful effects of Global Warming. Our extinction is our future unless we change our evil, carbon dioxide spewing ways. (Doesn't that sound a lot like Barack Obama on the economy and his stimulus bill? It's just that old scare em' straight to hell tactic that Democrats always love to use!)

Certainly, if you look at the above chart/graph from the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) website, that green trend line clearly supports Al's concern. From February 1895 (that's Eighteen Ninety-Five) to February of this year, the average temperatures just keep rising. And, that green trend line shows it. The average rise in temperatures is about .33 degrees per decade.

For years, I have used charts to analyze the stock market. So, I am sensitive to small, barely noticeable changes in stock trends that can be gleaned from any hourly, daily, and weekly stock charts.

One thing that dramatically caught my eye about the above chart was the noticeable decline in temps over the last few years. Those are the years that Al Gore seems to be saying that things are getting out of control.

The neat thing about the NCDC website (Click to view the website) is that it allows anyone the flexibility to do their own time frame analysis. All you have to do is plug in the beginning and ending dates and you will see the temperatures, trends, and baseline temps for that particular period of time.

Now, feeling a little naughty and so anti-global warming, I decided to plug in February of 1989 to February 2009 and, I got this little gem of a chart:

Unlike the first chart that I presented, this chart shows that temperatures have actually declined in the last 20 years; and, at a rate of about one-eighth of a degree per decade over the last two decades. That hardly looks like a global emergency to me. But, if you listen to Al, a political science and not science major in college, we're in a so-called "hockey stick" rise in temperatures. If you listen to this idiot, he says deeply and profoundly: "The science supports it!" Ya! Unfortunately, the statistical information doesn't quite support it.

To put things into perspective, in the last 20 years, the world population of carbon producing humans has risen from 5.1 billion to 6.76 billion; or, an increase of 32%. In the last 20 years, China, India, and Indonesia have literally exploded with carbon dioxide generating power production and manufacturing activities. To meet the growing affluence of third world countries, the total annual rate of world auto production has risen from 36 million units in 1989 to 52 million units in 2007 (See Full Story). The 2009 production is probably closer to 55 million; assuming the recession. That's an overall increase of 52% in the number of newly produced cars as compared to only a 32% rise in population. (I want to thank the Eco-nuts at the Earth Policy Institute for that little piece of anti-Global Warming data that I was just able to use!) Yet, this chart shows a decline in temps when, in theory, there should be that Al Gore, hockey stick rise in temps to match the increased amount carbon dioxide output over the last 20 years.

Worse yet, if you just look at the trend for the last 10 years, the temperature declines are even greater:
In the last 10 years, the temperature decline is 3.81 degrees for the decade. Maybe that's why a lot of scientists, who aren't joined at Al Gore's hip, are saying we might be entering some type of ice age.

Global Warming is a political strategy. Pure and simple. If you hate cars, especially SUV's, it easily fits your philosophy and it becomes the means of getting rid of them. If you love nature, it's a new kind of anti-human support mechanism. If you don't like meat or you're a PETA person, let's get rid of cows and cattle under the guise of Global Warming. Let's all use it to stop coal mining and it's energy production. Let's get rid of oil rigs, too. Let's limit births to two per family while we're at it! Or, better yet, let's just use abortion to rid the world of the whole, evil human race! All for Global Warming! Do I smell a massive agenda here? It all just fits together a little too perfectly for my taste.

More and more, the facts don't support Global Warming and the average person is starting to understand that. Yet, as a country, we are going to spend trillions under Obama to fight a pure figment of Al Gore's rich fantasy life. Sadly, this country's economy will suffer and the poor will suffer the worst.

Please...let's stop this insanity!
