I can never recall a time when a President attempted to go mano-a-mano with a private citizen like Rush Limbaugh. Obama called out Rush on January 24 when he publicly said: "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done." He was talking directly to Republicans and the Republican leadership and not-so indirectly condemning Rush Limbaugh's denouncement of his Stimulus Bill.
Now, Obama and the Democrats are planning continued attacks on Rush (See Full Story).
This kind of thing just isn't done. For one thing, it elevates Rush Limbaugh to the level of the President. Or, worse yet, it lowers the President to Rush's level. Either way it is not becoming of any President.
The other thing it does is to heighten an awareness of Limbaugh in the public eye. It doesn't lessen him. In effect, it shows that Obama and the Democrats see Limbaugh as a real threat. It shows they are concerned over the words that Limbaugh speaks. It is as if Limbaugh is really getting under their skin. However, their concern seems to be well off the mark.
While Rush may be a king in the realm of talk radio, he still only has the ears of about 1 percent of America. The Democrats should be treating Rush Limbaugh like a bothersome gnat by ignoring him. Instead, he is being treated like a bull in Obama's china shop who, to them, is destroying everything in sight.
It's just another example Obama's apparent lack of confidence and experience. That same lack of confidence and experience was clearly shown by him in childishly displaying a pseudo-Presidential seal that said "Office of the President-Elect" while waiting to get sworn in as the President.
Obama and his Administration's attacks on Rush Limbaugh just show him to be a "below it all" kind of President! This kind of "play in the fray" stuff is fine when you're campaigning; but, not after becoming what is supposed to be the most powerful leader on earth. And, that's just my opinion.
