ObamaCare Lacks Competition In Order to Keep Premiums Low

Just a few days ago, on August 18th, I wrote a blog titled "ObamaCare: Will the Last Insurer Leaving Turn Off the Lights?".  When I posted that, I fully expected it to take a few more years for the reality of that prediction to actually start happening.  However, the following day, the New York Times published an article called "Obamacare Options? In Many Parts of Country, Only One Insurer Will Remain" It pointed out that 17% of Americans eligible for ObamaCare will have only one insurer to chose from.

Then, on August 25th, Senator John McCain of Arizona wrote an opinion piece for Fox News in which he complained that in Pinal County Arizona, 10,000 residents lost their ObamaCare insurance because no insurer (carrier) would cover that particular county anymore.  Also, just two days after his piece, the Washington Post published an article titled: "Health-care exchange sign-ups fall far short of forecasts".  That article explains that enrollments are less than half of what the White House had originally forecast.  Most importantly, 1 in 4 counties in this country will have only one insurer to choose from when signing up for ObamaCare.  As the "Post" so noted, this certainly flies in the face of President Obama's 2009 prediction when he said:
"This exchange will allow you to one-stop shop for a health-care plan, compare benefits and prices, and choose a plan that’s best for you and your family. You will have your choice of a number of plans that offer a few different packages, but every plan would offer an affordable, basic package.”
The bottom line here is simple.  ObamaCare is imploding with too few people signing up and little to no competition.  Let's stop the charade and dump this horribly crafted law.
