Obama To 'Address' Our Kids?

I personally think that it would be good for our current President --- or, for that matter, any President -- to talk directly to school kids; as long as it is a focused motivational speech that is purely dedicated to getting our kids working harder in school. But, it should not be a speech that becomes a subject unto itself in our schools.

On Tuesday, Obama plans to give an hour-long speech to school children.

Unfortunately, for a variety of "reading between the lines" reasons, I see a four-fold problem with how this is being handled and what the real intentions are:

To begin with, there was absolutely no notice given to the nation that the President would be doing this and what his actual intentions were. The only "heads up" on this speech was given when the White House sent out a course plan (Click to see the newly toned-down Course Outline) to all of our nation's teachers. Prior to this, the parents knew nothing of this speech. As it was, they would probably still be in the dark, today, unless the Drudge Report hadn't posted it on the internet. That, to me, looks like this President is sneaking around and going behind the backs of our nation's parents. To my knowledge, our parents haven't given up all their parental rights to the "State"; and, not hardly to Obama.

Second, our nation's school children are a completely captive audience in this process and absolutely have no choice to opt out of what is being said. The White House has forced this "course outline" as if "Obama" has now become part of the curriculum. For this very reason, this has all the appearances of being a not-so-simple speech to our children.

Third, the fact that the "original course outline" for this speech advised the teachers to ask their students to "read about Obama" also makes the intent of this speech highly questionable. Is it the intention of the speech to motivate them about school or is it just to be another campaign infomercial for this constantly campaigning President? For the last 7 months it has been nothing but "all about Obama" on a nearly daily basis. Looking at the initial course outline, this truly appears to be another one of those I-me-my efforts from this guy!

Lastly, the original course outline for this speech advised the students to think of "how they could help the President". Help him do what? Since we still don't really know what the speech is all about, this seems to be more political than it should be. Obviously, the White House must have finally realized this with all the uproar since releasing the course outline, because it has since dropped that particular indoctrination language (Click to See Full Story: "White House Withdraws Call for Students to 'Help' Obama"). The concept of 'help Obama' is a very creepy reminder of so many past and not-so-Democratic governments. That language is almost out of every socialist dictator's playbook. The people of this country, and especially our children, are not subservient to this nation's President. Our President, like all the members of Congress, is simply "our" representative. Obama is not our king! It is one thing to help or do something for our nation; but, it is entirely different to help Obama and Obama, alone, do something!

This 'help Obama' crap seems to be a growing mindset on the left; especially in Hollywood. Just look at this TV ad that had previously caused an uproar when it was forcibly shown to some public school students in Utah:

While the bulk of that video seems to promote some very humanistic and noble goals, that theme completely goes off its Democratic wheels and quickly slides into the realm of a socialist dictatorships when, at the very end, it shows all those Hollywood morons pledging "to be a servant to our President" and asking the viewers to do the same.

Are these people in Hollywood all crazy or what! Do these Hollywood types seem to think America has ceased being a Democracy and we are no longer a government "of the people" and "for the people"! As Americans, we only pledge allegiance to our flag and our country; and not any President!

When you watch that video and then you look at the original course outline for this Obama speech to our kids, you can't help wondering what is going on in this country since Obama literally "ascended" to office.

The Obama 'speech' on Tuesday is just another case where this supposed transparent President is being caught doing an end-around or behind-the-back activity; and, another example of him failing to honor his promise of keeping us informed. People are suspicious enough because of his past behavior and his radical anti-American associations. The left-wing pundits seem to be offended that anyone would question this President's attempts to motivate our kids by giving a simple speech about studying and staying in school. But, the course outline takes this out of the world of simplicity and appears to move it towards being propaganda. That's why people are being so cynical. Nothing that this President has ever espoused has been completely innocent. If that was truly the case, then why the course outline and its explicit focus on Obama and why no pre-announcement of this speech to the nation? If George Bush had done the same thing, I guarantee that it would have been a front page smear on the New York Times and would have completely dominated the nightly news.

I think the President is playing with fire. If there is even a hint of political pep-talking in that speech, there will be an enormous backlash and I suspect that his poll numbers will fall even further. If he does "politic" this speech, it will be another example of this President intruding into our lives as if this nation reports to him; and, not the other way around. It is just another reason of why people are getting increasingly uneasy about what is really going on with our government since Obama took office.

Amen. I was so ready to pull my kids out of school Tuesday, but thankfully their teachers 1) knew nothing about it and 2) at least one of them was as vehemently opposed as I was. I love our little red corner in this big blue CA. (And, I blogged it if you want check it out.
